Family Hike

(Milo took this photo!)

A week ago we went for a hike at
Congaree Swamp National Monument, which was Zola's first foray into nature (other than our backyard and various playgrounds). Zola slept throughout the hike, waking only to eat and have her diaper changed en plein air. The boys thoroughly enjoyed the swamp, including "fishing" with sticks, running along the trails, checking out swamp mud, catching minnows in Wise Lake, swinging on vines, and hitching a ride in our red wagon when their little legs were exhausted.

Square Meal

I caught Calder in the rare act of actually eating his lunch. On the menu: peanut butter on wheat crackers.

One Month Old

Zola is one month old today! We think she looks ever so fetching in a sweater knitted especially for her by her great-grandmother Gigi.

A Crown Please and Milk for All

Thankfully, the Weinberg Boys still seem to like their little sister Zola. Calder has asked to hold her a couple of times and often kisses his sister's forehead (so cute!). Calder even has offered to share "Blue" with Zola. The other day Calder was playing with a doll and when it was time to "feed" the doll he lifted up his shirt and stuck the doll underneath to get his "milk."

Milo really enjoys caring for his sister. Aside from holding Zola and trying to calm her down whenever she gets fussy, Milo has decided we need to buy Zola some "pink dresses and a crown, so that she looks beautiful." Zola already has her very own stylist.

Bunkbeds, Baby!

The Weinberg Boys now have bunkbeds! When Grandpa visited a couple of weeks ago, he helped Daddy assemble the bunkbeds, much to the boys' delight. So far no one has fallen out. Phew.

Introducing Zola Violet Weinberg!

It's been a while since I last posted and that's because Ms. Zola Violet arrived almost three weeks ago, on January 17 at 10:50 pm. Zola was supposed to arrive today (February 5) but decided, based upon her mother's sage advice, that meeting her brothers and parents earlier rather than later was prudent. Zola was teeny tiny at birth, weighing 6 pounds 2 ounces and measuring 20 1/4 inches in length.

Zola has a very sweet disposition and has charmed her family members accordingly. Both big brothers dote on her, especially Milo, who really likes to hold and snuggle her, cooing all the while, seemingly enchanted because “she’s just so cute!” Calder seems to like her too—bestowing kisses on her tiny head and delighting in her awake moments, asking Mommy "when she'll talk?" Justin and I, in our somewhat lucid, albeit sleep-deprived moments, are just happy that Zola’s healthy and that the boys don’t seem to be blaming her for the momentous disruption in their daily lives, at least yet.
