Black History Month

Last week, in honor of Black History Month, the boys' school held two nights of performances by the school children.  Calder sang with his class about various black inventors, including Garrett Morgan, who invented the stop light.  Calder had made a little stop light to wear around his neck and blinked his eyes repeatedly during the song.  "Blink, blink!"  So cute.

Milo's class, in conjunction with the other Lower Elementary Montessori Class, demonstrated how blacks contributed significantly to the creation of Jazz music.  Milo was one of the few children chosen to speak about a musician.  Once Milo was done giving Miles Davis's biography, one of his classmates pretended to be Miles Davis while accompanied by a recording of Miles Davis's music.  Milo was very proud of his first role speaking on the stage and using a microphone.  He'll give a command performance to anyone interested.
