It only happens once in a blue moon down here in SC, but we had snow, real snow that stuck to the ground, this February! The kids had their first snow ball fight and built their first snow person. It was really a ton of fun for all of us. Best of all, it began snowing around 4 pm on Friday and all melted by 4 pm the following day. No mess, no shoveling, no headache. Only fun!

Black History Month
Last week, in honor of Black History Month, the boys' school held two nights of performances by the school children. Calder sang with his class about various black inventors, including Garrett Morgan, who invented the stop light. Calder had made a little stop light to wear around his neck and blinked his eyes repeatedly during the song. "Blink, blink!" So cute.
Big Girl Bed
Zola has been transitioning into a "big girl" as of late. In addition to being potty trained for almost three months now, Zola has started sleeping in her very favorite "big girl bed!" This makes it very easy for her to visit Mommy whenever she wants. Like when she arrives in our bedroom at 5:30 am and says "I'm up!" Well, usually she sleeps very well in her new toddler bed. It's just hard to stay in bed in the morning. Hooray!
Christmas With Uncle Ben
The Weinberg Three were most fortunate to spend Christmas 2009 with Uncle Ben, who visited SC all the way from England! As the super uncle that he is, Uncle Ben spoiled the kids with surprise treats and books and special time his whole visit.
We will never forget our Christmas Eve hike in Harbison State Park with Uncle Ben. What started out to be a short hour or so hike turned out to be about a four hour hike, as a very uncharacteristically clueless Mommy misread the trail map and sent us about 3.5 miles out of our way. No worries, we made it to the car by dusk and substituted a yummy dinner at our local Chinese restaurant, Sun Ming, for a home cooked meal (we made up for that the next day with non-stop, homecooked food). Uncle Ben was a particularly good sport about playing Jedi Knights with the boys in the woods (read fighting with sticks, a.k.a., light sabers).
Christmas Day brought heavy rains and a flooded street. More outdoor stomping crazy fun!
Zola Is Two!
Zola spent her birthday doing lots of things she loves. She started her day by dancing around in a ballet tutu, with her adoring grandparents cheering her on. Then she got to eat chocolate cake! Zola had been talking about cake all week long (and maybe longer), so this was quite pleasing to her.
Then Zola and her friends played with about 30 pounds of homemade Play-doh in various colors and consistencies. Gooey, crazy, messy fun! Then back to some more dancing, of course!
Sorry For the Hiatus
