What's After . . . ?

In true type-A form (and nothing like his mother's need to plan things), Milo's most-oft used phrase is now, "What's after . . . ?" Apparently Milo likes to know what's next on his busy schedule, and repeatedly asks about it, all day long. For example, the following is a familiar refrain as I drive Milo to school in the morning.

Milo: "Mommy, what's after school?"
Me: "We'll play at the playground."
Milo: "What's after the playground?"
Me: "Naptime."
Milo: "What's after naptime?"
Me: "Mommy cooks dinner."
Milo: "What's after dinner?"
Me: "Playtime."
Milo: "What's after playtime?"
Me: "Bathtime."
Milo: "What's after bathtime."
Me: "Storytime."
Milo: "What's after storytime?"
Me: "Bedtime."
Milo: "What's after bedtime?"
Me: "We sleep until morning and then get up and get ready for school, you silly goose."
Milo: "What's after school?"

As you can see, this can, and often does, go on forever. The monotony does not seem to bother Milo.

Our Three-Year Old

It's hard to believe, but Milo turned three on August 30. Aside from all the fun with the grandparents and Auntie Alli, Milo got to make his very own special birthday cake with Mommy. Milo requested a chocolate cake with mint chocolate chip ice cream and sprinkles. So off we baked. Milo had a lot of fun making the cake, but true to his standard appetite, only ate one slice of cake. Justin and I enjoyed ice cream cake for quite a while afterwards.

Milo also had a birthday party at school with all of his friends. Luckily Calder and I got to join in the fun.

Calder Turns One!

Calder is now a one-year old! In addition to crawling like a madman at lightning speed, Calder can now climb the entire staircase without faltering, say the words "dog" and "fan," sign for his cup of milk and to be picked up, clap his hands, and point to things he wants to eat or touch. When asked, Calder also can fetch his cup of milk and his best stuffed animal friend, "Blue." I daresay that our dogs have taught him well. . . . Unfortunately, Calder's developmental milestones also have heralded the arrival of tantrums. Boy can he wail and flail if he doesn't get what he wants.

August -- What a Crazy Month!!!

Whew! August was a crazy month for us Weinbergs and September turned out to be just as hectic. As a result, we've been a little behind on our blogging and hope to catch up quickly. In the middle of August we traveled up to North Carolina for our old friend Suzanne's post-wedding party, to celebrate her marriage to Craig the previous month in Alaska. The boys had a lot of fun at the party, especially Milo grooving to the rock n' roll band. The rest of Suzanne's post-wedding party pictures can be found here.
