We've Moved to South Carolina and Now We Have A Sidler

We recently moved from Williamsburg, Virginia, to Columbia, South Carolina. What an exhausting trek that was and the transition continues to be. In particular, my boys have had a hard time sleeping since we've moved and part of that might be because our air-conditioning was on the fritz twice during the two weeks that we have been in Columbia.

At any rate, the boys' sleeplessness has created some funny (in addition to annoying) moments. For example, we now have a "Sidler," as on Seinfeld. Twice now Milo has sidled me, such that I might have to get him one of these Seinfeld-esque t-shirts (see
http://www.cafepress.com/culturevulture/677558) and perhaps a little bell to hang around his neck. The first time he sidled it was around midnight and Justin and I were reading in bed after an exhausting evening of frantic unpacking once the boys were in bed for the night (ha ha ha). As I lay in bed it sounded like a dog (yes, we have two, but both were already in our room curled up in the dogbed at the foot of our bed) was creeping across the hall floor into our bedroom. I looked up and noticed Milo on his knees sort of crawling, scooting, who-knows-what-out-of-a-horror-movie, maybe levitating into our bedroom. And all of a sudden, Milo's big blue eyes and impish grin were peeking at me from the foot of my bed declaring his undying thirst or something like that. Yes, so now he goes to bed with a cup of ice water on his nightstand.

The second time Milo sidled me, Justin and I had just popped a DVD into the DVD player downstairs in the family room, at about 10 p.m. Without a sound (and no creaking on the stairs!), Milo appears aside the sofa and states, while climbing onto the sofa, "I've come downstairs. I'm going to watch TV with you, yes!" Mind you, Milo does not watch television (he's watched it maybe 5 times since birth) and his bedtime is 8 p.m. Needless to say, we marched him back up to bed and told him that we too were going to go to sleep right away.
